Job Title: Medical Secretary/DOT Drug Testing Specimen Collector –
Chiropractic Office, La Grande, Oregon
Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Secretary/DOT Drug Testing Specimen Collector to join our busy chiropractic office in La Grande, Oregon. This dual-role position combines traditional medical secretary duties, direct patient interaction, and DOT-compliant drug testing specimen collections. We are looking for someone with strong administrative skills and a commitment to patient care and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Reception and Support: Greet patients, answer inquiries, and manage phone calls.
- Appointment Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule appointments, manage physician's calendar, and coordinate referrals.
- Medical Records Management: Maintain accurate patient records and correspondence.
- Billing and Insurance Processing: Verify insurance, process payments, and handle billing inquiries.
- DOT Drug Testing Specimen Collection: Conduct DOT-compliant urine specimen collections, maintain chain-of-custody.
- Consortium Client Drug Testing Management: Manage drug testing for consortium clients.
- HIPAA Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical office experience preferred (medical administrative assistant experience is a plus).
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screenings.
- DOT Specimen Collector certification preferred (we will provide this training and certification).
Job Details:
- Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (30 hours/week).
- Opportunity for growth to 34 hours per week upon successful DOT Specimen Collector certification.
- Competitive starting wage: $16 - $18 per hour, based on experience.
